Stay With Us

Sometimes it is all too easy to take for granted what is right in front of us, and we are as guilty of that as anyone.  What got us thinking was our eclectic mix of friends and visitors constantly telling us “Jeez guys, you’ve got something really special here” and then just seeing them offload, unwind and leave their worries where they belong….in another place for a day or two.

So…In the last year or two we've been working hard to set up the property so we can share it with Kiwis and international tourists wanting to experience the real West Coast.

At Hurunui Jacks, you can feel free to explore our 30 plus acres of native land, surrounded by National Park and Dept. of Conservation land, take a walk down to the river, then on to our newly developed bush walk, and just breathe in the peace of it all. Feed the rainbow trout in our lake and watch them jump right out of the water on a good day!

We are approx. 12km inland from Hokitika, and 5km from stunning Lake Kaniere.  Perfect afternoon/day trip from Hurunui Jacks…Lake Kaniere, the amazing Dorothy Falls, and the breathtaking Hokitika Gorge.  Then cruise into Hokitika, have fish and chips or pizza by the beach maybe, go driftwood hunting, check out the arty shops, the West Coast Wine Company.

We have two accommodation options for you:

'The Nest' is a small cottage with a kitchenette, toilet and an outdoor bath and shower. It has a queen bed, and single bed in attached separate room.It is situated close, but separate to, our house, we promise to leave you in complete peace and idleness. We have no cell phone coverage, but we do provide free wi-fi.

There are complete kitchen facilities, heater, electric blanket on queen bed, up to date magazines, hairdryer, everything you would expect to find for the perfect escape.  There is a CD player, but no TV, or telephone (house phone available for emergencies of course).  It’s the kind of place we would love to stay if we didn’t already live here!

Rate $120 per night for two people, extra person $10 (however, ideally suited for couples). Please make any booking enquiries through our ‘Say Hello’ page.

We've teamed up with the folk at Canopy Camping Escapes and now offer some really unique guest accommodation - glamping. 'Glamping' is otherwise known as 'glamourous camping' - and it's camping of the best kind. Huge, canvas tents, comfy beds with top-quality linen, wood burning tent stoves, old style lanterns and heaps of atmosphere.

Enjoy a spot of trout fishing on the lake, soak in an outdoor bath in the bush, toast marshmallows on the campfire or enjoy a glass of wine and some hearty West Coast cuisine in true West Coast style.

You can see availability and book our new luxury tent through our Canopy Camping Escapes instant online booking calendar right here.
